Practice before the Australian Open

The President of the Tamborine Mountain Bowling Club, Lance Cordingley, has written to Bowls South with the following offer:

I write to you on the suggestion of one of our members, who is also a member of Sandy Bay Bowls Club (within Bowls Tasmania South), and who returns to Tamborine Mountain to attend the Australian Open on the Gold Coast each year.

He proposed we could hold an annual event in the week prior to commencement of the Australian Open, in which any Tasmanian bowlers who were coming to the Gold Coast could have the opportunity for some practice games at our club and enjoy some country hospitality. Whilst details have not been determined (such as format and catering arrangements) as that will depend on numbers, we have set Saturday 1 June as this year’s proposed date.

It has been tagged β€œTasMania Bowls” for our own planning purposes but, as a very small regional club close to the Australian Open action, with 2 greens and good facilities, I know any visitors would be warmly welcomed. We did, fairly recently, have the joyous experience of hosting the Trans-Tasman event and Australian team training just prior to the Commonwealth Games.

I ask that, if possible, you could inform your members of this proposal and, if it interests any, they could contact me to register and liaise regarding it. Of course, I am happy to provide any further information that may be required, and thank you for your consideration.

Regards
