BowlsLink access and member privacy

Access to BowlsLink must be via each individual member’s private login. A member’s login must not be used as a central login. That would breach the Bowls Australia Privacy Policy (PDF), as well as Bowls Tasmania and BTS Policies.

Each member is required to sign the BowlsLink User Access Request Form stating that they fully understand the BA Privacy Policy and that they agree to abide by its contents.

Important

Individuals (Person): If someone used your private login to breach the privacy of your club members, you would be held responsible and you would face the consequences.

Clubs (Entity): Each club should revoke administrator/competition access for members who no longer need it, as soon as this becomes the case, to ensure only the right people have access to your clubโ€™s sensitive member data.

About the penalties

The penalty for serious or repeated breaches of privacy in Australia is enormous.ย  Any act by an entity or person that causes โ€œserious or repeated interferenceโ€ with an individual or a group of individuals’ privacy is in contravention of the Privacy Act (Section 13G) and is liable to a civil penalty.ย ย Currently, the amount of civil penalty for โ€œserious or repeated interferences with privacyโ€ is $2.22 million.
