Mandatory DECYP Safeguarding Training

Bowls Tasmania has been advised that anyone involved with schools at your clubs must have completed the Department of Education, Children and Young Peopleโ€™s (DECYP) External Providers Safeguarding Training. The course takes less than fifteen minutes to complete.

If you are a DECYP employee, volunteer or external service provider for the department, you must complete this training. You will learn what to do if you believe a child or young person is being harmed and make sure you are doing all you can to prevent this from happening. You will also learn what your reporting requirements are.

Training must be done as soon as possible, and you will need to complete it before you work with any children and young people this year.ย You can do the training by logging on to the DECYP website via the link above and clicking on the “Safeguarding Training” link in the first box (Volunteers and Service Providers).

Register your completion!

Make sure you download and save your certificate to verify you have completed your training. See your BowlsLink Club Administrator and show them your certificate so it can be register in BowlsLink that you’ve completed the training. The steps to follow are:

  1. Log in to BowlsLink (Club Admin).
  2. Click on the memberโ€™s name in the Membership listing.
  3. Click on the PLUS icon under CERTIFICATIONS.
  4. Select โ€œDECYP Safeguarding Training (Tas)โ€ from the dropdown.
  5. Enter the date completed and certificate number.
  6. Click the ADD button.

NOTE: The club may choose to keep a copy of all certificates in a folder โ€“ thatโ€™s up to each club.  A BowlsLink certificate means you/we can easily see who has done the training (and therefore who has not) if needed.
