Newly-Crowned Southern Junior Pairs Champions

The following report was posted to the BTS Facebook Group by Brent Forsyth on 14 February.

After another great display on Friday night we have the Newly Crowned Southern Junior pairs Champions for 21/22 Jaylah Triffett and Adam Taylor.

In what was always going to be a high standard of Bowls Taylor and Triffett got out to a lead of 8-2 after 5 ends with Jaylah playing terrific bowls in the Lead position and whenever Forsyth and Beattie looked in a scoring position Taylor played some great draw and conversion shots to keep their lead throughout the game. Forsyth and Beattie never gave up and dig deep to to win 4 of the last 6 ends but the gap was to great and saw Taylor and Triffett run out deserving winners.

We also had 2 singles games played on Friday they were Jordan Croft V Eli Sutton and Miley Sutton V Xavior Triffett.

Again the standard of bowls played was eye opening with draw and conversion shots in both games a highlight. The Sutton/Triffett game say neither player give and inch with no more than 2 shots being a lead for either player which then say them locked on 14 all. Xavior then shifted into another gear with some very consistent draw bowls to put the next 6 ends together to close out the game. Of those 6 ends it was 5 ones and one 2 which shows the standard both players were playing at that it could have gone either way.

In the other game we saw Roddies teammates Jordan Croft and Eli Sutton battle it out with Eli the victor in this one.

Eli had a great start to this game with again very consistent draw bowls to see him race out to a lead of 11-4 before Jordan again staged a spirited comeback to score 9 shots over 3 ends get get back into the game and level at 14 all.

The next 5 ends were tight with each player only scoring ones which set up a fantastic last end which saw Eli pick up a 3 and close the game out.

Congratulations everyone the standard you are all playing at is amazing and fantastic to watch.

We have 3 more Singles games to be played this Friday night at Claremont which will be a great hit out for our Last Triangular at Longford on Sunday.

  • Brandon Beattie V Tyler Forsyth
  • Jaylah Triffett V Matthew Beach
  • Xavior Triffett V Adam Taylor

For all others not playing Michael Taylor and I will set some drills and a game for you on Friday night for practice for Sunday
