Claremont put a dent in Rodman’s top of the table chances

Claremont had a thrilling 10-4 win over second placed Glenorchy Rodman by four shots, putting a dent in Rodman’s chances of finishing on top of the ladder.  Claremont’s Shane Peck played out a 19 all draw against Tony Vince, while Paul Hart had a 21 all draw against Isaac Maughan. The big winner for Claremont was Michael Taylor’s rink of Adam Taylor, Max Barry and Kevin Raby, who defeated Luke Turner by 10 shots.  For Rodman, Jack Ellis beat Nick Chilcott 18-12.

Kingborough may have secured its position on top of the ladder with a 14-0 win over bottom placed Rosny Park by 27 shots. Ryan Guy, with second Jeff Parsons playing well, comprehensively defeated Michael Eiszele 28-15, while Jason Fowler was never troubled in beating Darren Monks by nine shots.  Despite a late comeback from Peter Bannister, Will Coad was able to get over the line by two shots.  The game of the day was the skip’s battle between Kingorough’s Jarod Long and Dale Maundrill.  Both players were in fine form, but with three Darren Reeve playing some good bowls, Long prevailed by three shots.

Third placed Sandy Bay had a solid 11-3 win over Buckingham by 23 shots.  Keghan Booth’s rink of David Morris, Oliver Clark and Scott Booth played brilliant to defeat Andrew Chamberlain by 28 shots.  Justin Plummer was the other winner for Sandy Bay, beating Todd Oakley 26-15. Ryan McCoull and Craig Owen had a 15 all draw. Grant Chamberlain was the sole winner for Buckingham, defeating Bryce Guy 25-9.

Cremorne got back on the winner’s list with 13-1 34 shot win over Dover. Fresh off winning the Men’s Southern Singles Championship, Leigh Munnings, with lead Geoff Jones playing extremely well, defeated Jacob Sherrin-Wall by 18 shots. Brad Knight was in control all game against Jarrah Allan to win 23-13. Peter Marshall had a close tussle with Roger Dale to win by six shots. Ralph Tieman came from behind to score a two on the last end to draw 17 all with Josh Lording.

In the final match of the round, Brighton defeated Beltana 10-4 by 24 shots. Grant Wakefield’s rink of Mick Daniels, David Cure and Andrew Maguire all played well to defeat Michael Coppleman by 18 shots. Matthew Breward’s rink outclassed Beltana’s Nick Courto to win 27-12. With Ray Smith leading well, Beltana’s Steven Midson came from behind to defeat John North by one shot. Beltana’s Shane Young led all day against Tony Bartninkaitis to win 22-14
