Top five make their claim

Derwent Eye Specialists Premier Division report by Connor Munnings

The top five teams in the Derwent Eye Specialists Premier Division have made their mark on the competition, with all of them securing wins against the teams below them.

Sandy Bay had a comfortable 13-1 win over Dover by 61 shots.  Keghan Booth’s rink of Lucas Howell, Scott Booth and David Anderson all played some superb bowls to beat Roger Dale by 35 shots. Ryan McCoull, with support from Phil Hobbs, James Howell and Amity Booth, defeated Jordan Seabourne 29-10. Justin Plummer defeated Josh Lording 22-15.  Darren Beattie played out a thrilling 22-22 draw with Jacob Sherrin-Wall.

Glenorchy Rodman and Brighton split rinks 10-4 with Rodman winning by 15 shots overall. With a great team effort from Tony Vince, Mitchell Long and Damien Sutton, Isaac Maughan defeated Grant Wakefield 27-10. Luke Turner, with Daniel Gahan leading well, beat Brighton’s Tony Bartninkaitis by 14 shots.  For Brighton, Matt Breward played superbly against Steve Clifford to win 26-16, while John North defeated Paul Cruise by six shots.

Cremorne ran out 10-4 winners against Rosny Park by 24 shots.  Cremorne’s Leigh Munnings, with great support from Patrick Hoffman, Paul Hoddy and Don McVilly, was in control all game against Darren Monks to win by 18 shots.  Ralph Tieman’s rink of David Langmaid, Geoff Doyle and Brendon Dance were the other winners for Cremorne, defeating Dale Maundrill 19-11.  Brad Knight fought back well against Rosny’s Peter Bannister by winning eight out of the last nine ends to only lose by one shot.  Rosny’s Michael Eiszele defeated Peter Marshall 20-19.

Kingborough secured its spot in first position by defeating Beltana on all rinks by 45 shots.  Jason Fowler was in top form to defeat Brendan Breen 28-7, while Ryan Guy beat Steve MIdson by 13 shots.  Jarod Long got the better of Nick Courto by seven shots and Will Coad had a tight tussle with Shane Young to win 19-15.

Claremont continued to show why it deserves to be in Premier League with a 13-1 35 shot victory over Buckingham.  Michael Taylor led the way with a 32-14 win Alvin Cooke, while Nick Chilcott defeated Todd Oakley by 15 shots and Paul Hart beat Andrew Chamberlain by two shots.  Shane Peck and Grant Chamberlain played out a 16-16 draw.
