Kingborough down Rosny in thriller

Kingborough continued its undefeated start to the Derwent Eye Specialists Premier Division with a thrilling three shot 10-4 victory over Rosny Park. The result was not decided until the final bowl of the day, with Rosny’s Dale Maundril needing to score a two on the final end to give Rosny the overall win. However, Kingborough’s Jason Fowler was able to draw a shot with his final bowl to score two and win by one shot. Kingborough’s win was set up by Will Coad’s rink of Robert O’Neill, Shane Garth and Callum Dinning who shot off to a fast start against Darren Monks. Despite a late comeback from Monks, Coad was able to win 27-17.  Rosny’s Peter Bannister defeated Jarod Long 23-17 and Michael Eiszele beat Ryan Guy by two shots.

Glenorchy Rodman defeated a gallant Claremont by 12 shots on three rinks. Luke Turner’s rink of Anthony Clifford, David Sutton and Daniel Gahan were the big winners for Rodman with a 11 shot victory over Shane Peck.  A six on the 18th end helped Isaac Maughan defeat Paul Hart 23-17.  Jorja Maughan played well in the lead spot to help Paul Cruise to a thrilling one shot victory over Nick Chilcott.  Michael Taylor secured two points for Claremont by defeating Steve Clifford 21-15.

Peter Marshall spearheaded Cremorne’s 10-4 two shot win over Dover.  With great support from his rink of Garry Banks, Steve Lanning and Ian Webster, Marshall defeated Brad Carver by 15 shots.  Brad Knight had a tight tussle against Dover’s Josh Lording, but with David Oates leading well, Knight was able to win by one shot. Jacob Sherrin-Wall defeated Ralph Tieman by two shots.  Dover’s Roger Dale finished brilliantly against Leigh Munnings to score 16 shots in the final four ends to win by 12 shots and almost steal the overall victory.

Brighton got its first win for the year with a 12-2 three shot victory over Beltana. John North, with great bowls from Greg Fehlberg, Don Holland and Riley Davey, came out seven shot victors over Nick Courto. Grant Wakefield defeated Steven Midson 22-16 and Tony Bartninkaitis beat Brendan Breen by three shots.  Shane Young nearly secured Beltana the overall win with a 25-12 win over Matthew Breward.

Sandy Bay got back in the winner’s book, defeating Buckingham 10-4 by 11 shots. Keghan Booth defeated Andrew Chamberlain 24-14 while Justin Plummber beat Todd Oakley by 18 shots. For Buckingham, Alvin Cooke had a 15 shot win over Ryan McCoull and Grant Chamberlain defeated Darren Beattie 18-16.
