Cremorne shows its credentials as premiership contender

Cremorne flexed its title as a premiership contender with a 14-0 42 shot win over Buckingham in the Derwent Eye Specialists Premier Division. Brad Knight was the big winner for Cremorne, with third Phil Ions playing some big bowls to help them run out 20 shot victors against Todd Oakley. Peter Marshall established an early 10 shot lead over Grant Chamberlain thanks to some great leading by Ian Webster and was able to continue to extend the lead to 27-14. With support from his rink of David Langmaid, Geoff Doyle and Brendon Dance, Ralph Tieman was able to overcome Alvin Cooke by six shots. Leigh Munnings was the standout performer on his rink to hold off Andrew Chamberlain by three shots.

Dover travelled to Rosny Park to secure a 10-4 win by eight shots. Josh Lording, with great support from Jarrah Allan, Hugh Fletcher and Gary Brown, was too good for Graham Rowbottom and set up the win for Dover with a 37-12 victory. Dover’s Jacob Sherrin-Wall had a close tussle with John McKibben, but was able to extend his lead in the latter half of the game to win by 10 shots. Peter Bannister played superbly to keep Rosny in the game with a 20 shot win over Brad Carver, while Darren Monks defeated Roger Dale 21-14.

Will Coad’s 17 shot win over Greg Fehlberg saw Kingborough and his rink continue to remain undefeated throughout the season. Coad’s team of Robert O’Neill, Shane Garth and Callum Dinning helped Kingborough to an 8-6 win over Brighton by eight shots.  Brighton won on the other three rinks.  Matt Breward, with Ricky Limbrick playing well in the third position, defeated Jarod Long 20-18.  Jayden Hunter led well to help John North beat Ryan Guy by two shots.  Grant Wakefield had great support from Andrew McGuire to secure a five shot win over Jason Fowler.

Glenorchy Rodman continued its good form, defeating Sandy Bay 13-1 by 11 shots.  Steven Clifford’s rink of Jack Ellis, Rodney Turner and Crystal Brooks played well to defeat Bryce Guy 26-19.  Paul Cruise beat Keghan Booth by three shots, while Luke Turner narrowly got over Ryan McCoull by one shot.  Rodman’s Isaac Maughan and Justin Plummer played out a 19 all draw.

Claremont jumped into the top four by defeating Beltana 10-4 by eight shots. For Claremont, Michael Taylor defeated Nick Courto 24-11 and Shane Peck beat Brendan Breen 24-15. Beltana secured four points with Shane Young winning 22-13 against Paul Hart and Steve Midson beating Nick Chilcott by five shots.
