Roles and Responsibilities

The primary role of the BTS Junior Development Officer is to create a pathway or process which recruits and develops junior players in Southern Tasmania.

This role will include:

  • Create and implement junior player recruitment strategies in Southern Tasmania.
  • Develop and implement new initiatives to promote and develop junior players in Southern Tasmania.
  • Be the primary contact point of parents and junior players wishing to learn more about playing options for juniors.
  • Form relationships with Bowls Australiaโ€™s Regional Bowls Manager Tasmania with the goal of recruiting junior players to lawn bowls.
  • Assist Clubs at their invitation in running a number of โ€œcome and tryโ€ or โ€œmeet the coachโ€ days inviting potential junior players to come and experience lawn bowls.
  • Work with the BTS Southern Junior Coach and Selectors to identify and recommend possible junior players to represent BTS at Bowls Tasmania Junior Statewide Challenge events.
  • Liaise with the Bowls Tasmania Director responsible for Junior Development with the possibility of joining the Bowls Tasmania Junior Development Committee by invitation.

Employment Status

This is a voluntary position.

Essential Qualifications

  • Can communicate effectively.
  • Enjoys working with children.
  • Must have a current Working with Vulnerable People Card.
  • Desirable to have completed the Bowls Australia Club Coach course.
