Women’s Open Pairs

The Women’s Open Pairs was won by the Claremont pairing of Di Peck and Joy Voss who defeated the Glenorchy Rodman pair of Michelle Moate and Jenny Suttie by 5 shots, 18-13. Di and Joy progressed to the Final with a comfortable 17 shot victory over the Howrah pair of Sally Ridgeway and Janet Rutherford, 30-13. Michelle and Jenny had to work a little harder to reach the decider in their Semi Final against another pair from Claremont, Trudy Davis and Maree Morgan, winning their match by 6 shots, 22-16.

Men’s Open Pairs

The Men’s Open Pairs was won by the Dover pair of Cam Norris and Ricky Ormerod who defeated the Royal Hobart pair of Keith Hinkley and Paul McCann by 9 shots, 20-11. Cam and Ricky defeated a composite pair from Kingborough and Sandy Bay, Nathan Dinning and Andrew Norris, by 6 shots in their Semi Final round, 23-17, while Keith and Paul were forced to work much harder in their close tussle with Danny Neal and Peter Jenkins from the Howrah Club, finally securing their place in the Final by a single shot, 18-17.

Women’s B Grade Pairs

Janice Tonks and Rose Williams, representing the Brighton Club, won the Final of the Women’s B Grade Pairs by a very comfortable margin of 21 shots, 28-7, against their opponents from North Hobart, Elizabeth Higgins and Cindy Lomas, after defeating Tracey Cameron and Dianne Coleman of the Taroona Club by 11 shots, 21-10, in their Semi Final match. Elizabeth and Cindy gained their place in the Final by bettering the Franklin pairing of Kristy Harrison and Emma Burgess by 4 shots, 21-17 in their Semi Final.

Men’s B Grade Pairs

Shane Winter and Tim Morgan, from the New Norfolk Club, made up for their agonising loss in the B Grade Triples Final with their 7 shot win, 25-18, against the Sandy Bay pairing of Richard Wilson and Bill Mothershead, after their nail-biting 2 shot win, 23-21 against the Kingborough pair of Jim La Duke and Tony Verrier in their Semi Final.
