BTS Men’s Fours
At Beltana on Sunday, with better weather prevailing than for the previous week, the composite team of Cam Tegg, Glenorchy Rodman, and a trio of players from Dover – Cam Norris, Chris Norris, and Ricky Ormerod – defeated the Rosny Park rink of Peter Bannister, Darren Monks, Michael Rankin and Connor Munnings, 22-14, to be crowned Bowls South’s Open Men’s Fours champions for 2022-23.
Although Tegg won by a comfortable margin of 8 shots, the match was in the balance after the 15th end with Bannister within 2 shots of Tegg, 14-16, but could not sustain the momentum with Tegg’s rink not conceding another shot over the final 3 ends. Bannister reached the Final after winning a very close Semi Final match against the Glenorchy Rodman rink of Luke Turner, Jack Ellis, Jacob Sherrin-Wall and Anthony Clifford, winning 19 shots to 17. Cam Tegg’s four had a 9 shot win in their Semi Final, 20-11, against the Sandy/Dover composite rink of Josh Lording.
Bowls South’s Men’s B Grade Fours were also completed at Beltana on Sunday, with New Norfolk’s Shane Winter winning the event for the second consecutive year, ably supported by club mates, Tim Morgan, Matthew Hugo and Shane Malone. Winter defeated a four from the Taroona Bowls Club, Paul Martin, Gavin O’Neil, Chris Barrell and Michael Behrend, 28-16.
