A surprise win against a premiership favourite highlighted the final round of the Derwent Eye Specialists Premier Division as ladder positions were finalised.

Beltana shocked Kingborough with a 12-2 win by 10 shots, pushing them down to second on the ladder. Nick Courto was sublime in his 24-15 win over Ryan Guy while Steven Midson defeated Jason Fowler by nine shots. Shane Young, with great support from Alex McCoull, Scott Wheatley and John Mastrippolito also beat Jarod Long by nine shots.  Will Coad’s rink fought hard to secure Kingborough two points with a 30-13 win over Michael Coppleman.

Glenorchy Rodman capitalised on Kingborough’s loss by winning on all rinks against Brighton by 44 shots and jumping to the top of the table. Tony Vince’s rink of Rodney Turner, Kelvin Lynema and Daniel Gahan were outstanding, defeating state pairs champion Grant Wakefield 36-14. Jack Ellis continued his great season with a 14 shot win over John North and Isaac Maughan beat Tony Bartninkaitis 19-12.  Luke Turner had a tight tussle against Matthew Breward to win by one shot.

For finishing on top of the ladder, Rodman will get a home ground advantage in the first semi-final against Kingborough.  The winner will go straight to the grand final while the loser will play the winner of the second semi-final.

Sandy Bay also experienced a surprise 10-4 loss to Dover by one shot, but remained in third position.  Josh Lording’s rink of Brad Carver, Jordon Seabourne and Gary Brown were the big winners for Dover, defeating Justin Plummer 28-16. Jacob Sherrin-Wall beat Bryce Guy by four shots to be Dover’s other winner. Sandy Bay’s Keghan Booth had a comprehensive win over Roger Dale by 11 shots, while Ryan McCoull defeated Jarrah Allan 23-19.

Sandy Bay will face Claremont in the second semi-final, who had a 12-2 win over Buckingham by 23 shots.  The father-son duo of Michael and Adam Taylor combined well to comfortably beat Peter Gangell by 15 shots. Nick Chilcott defeated Craig Owen 25-16 and Paul Hart beat Andrew Chamberlain by seven shots. For Buckingham, Grant Chamberlain defeated Shane Peck 23-15.  The losing team of Sandy Bay and Claremont will be eliminated from the competition.

Despite winning 10-4 against Cremorne by 19 shots, Rosny Park finished on the bottom of the ladder and will be relegated next season. Peter Bannister’s rink of Grant McCormack, Morgan Williams and Michael Rankin were in fine form to defeat Cremorne’s Peter Marshall by 23 shots. Rosny’s Darren Monks, with great support from second John McKibben, came from behind to defeat Ralph Tieman 21-17. Brad Knight and Michael Eiszele played out a thrilling last end with Cremorne’s Knight scoring a two to win by one shot. With Geoff Jones leading brilliantly, Leigh Munnings overcame a slow start against Rosny’s Dale Maundrill to win 26-19.

New Norfolk finished on top of the Division 1 ladder and will be promoted to Premier League next season.
